Welcome to the Junior League of Scranton, a member of The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc (AJLI). Our 140 plus members are part of the international network of 160,000 women in 292 Leagues in four countries who make a difference in their communities every day through their volunteer efforts.
The Junior League of Scranton, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
The Junior League reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, voluntarism.
The Junior League has had some famous members among them. Some of those members include: Mary Harriman Rumsey, founder of the Junior League; First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt; Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female U.S. Supreme Court Justice; First Lady Nancy Reagan; First Lady Barbara Bush; First Lady Laura Bush; child actress Shirley Temple, and actress Katharine Hepburn.
